The rhythm of life has a lovely beat
(MDG4. Reduce child mortality)

”Sarayaku is an indigenous Quechua community deep in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. The group of Quechua's who live there became famous because of their ongoing resistance against big oil companies who want to exploit their area. While the polluting oil-exploitation in surrounding areas has taken the lives and health of many. The little boy who is present in this work of art lives with his parents close to the Bobonaza river that streams through Sarayaku territory.

When I visited his community and took a picture of this boy I couldn’t resist the thought that if this boy would still have been alive and kicking if the people of his tribe had sold their soil and their soul to big oil.”
